WHAT a weekend we had!!!! No work was done on the house...just time spent loving on family and friends.  Friday night was our High School homecoming football game.  This has been a chance for our youngest to take the field with the HS drill team for several years.  Extra special to sit next to my bestie (not a TEXAN) who just does not GET MUMS...she has 3 sons and vows to boycott mums. We decided jewelry is a better option.

Saturday we were up and out to visit our oldest at college for Family Day.  BUG DAY!

She left a week prior to our move to the country.  I cannot wait for her to come home on a break to experience all the things we have been telling her about.  Like driving home and seeing this walking down the road:

This is normal...RIGHT???????

Sunday was a yearly service event at church, BEChurch, where we give food to families in the community.  This is a always such a blessing.

Moving forward the next two weekends are ALL about GLENN Acres!!! There will be construction stories and pictures to come!

I would like to share last nights meal. PIZZAFFLES!!! Waffle pizza pockets.  I used all the pizza dough and added a few with biscuits so there would be more.  We loved them all but would use just biscuits in the future.  The kids are getting a kick out of the waffle iron meals.  Colby is missing Zestie French fries and wants me to try.  I am not so sure.

YUMM...Used the extra pizza sauce for DIPPING!!!!!!!!

To end this blog I want to share I have a lot of fears!  I have never seen and have always feared scorpions.  I am sure you know where this is going.  Sunday night I arrived home first from the grocery store.  While carrying groceries in I looked down to see something moving QUICKLY towards the open door.  Thank goodness for flip flops!  He was small but FAST!  I am learning to watch where I walk!

Country love to you!

FINALLY a Monday night at home.  Can you relate..work and home life keeping you busy.  Or should I say lack of being at home life.  We had a pretty low key night at home which was MUCH needed!

First OFF...did you know that GRANDS make Corn Bread??? Seriously!!!  I may not have an oven but I do have...my WAFFLE IRON!!!  Fun fact...Colby has never tried CORN Bread...because of the word CORN.  He loves corn..you know how it goes.  But put something in the waffle iron and tell him its just bread...WE HAVE ANOTHER WINNER.  I should also mention the little waffle squares are great for adding BUTTER!!!!  What it takes to get some warm bread..

Grab the cord babe!

Half biscuits!

SO GOOD!  Thank you GRANDS!

Then on to a little time outside.  What do you think our attack dog has spotted????

Did you guess....BUNNY???

Keep loving the people around you!!!!

DAY 30

DIRTY DIRTY DAY THIRTY!  Before I get to the dirty I should mention our crew.  Yes our sidekicks are senior citizens and they work hard...FOR FREE!  We did feed them on Saturday.  I am thinking we might be on to something.  I hear a lot about 65+ either having a hard time finding work or just needing something part time.  If you know any hammer slinging silver haired crazies let me know! I am fine if they just want to haul bricks.  Disclaimer...we are not responsible for any accidents.  Someone was roaming around church Sunday morning pointing out a BIG scab from flying sheet rock.  Poor thing.  Is there such a thing as Senior Citizen Protective Services??  Probably huh?  I need to think this through.  Until then...here is the BIG scab above the eye brow.  Good grief.  Throwing the crow bar at her ankle was much worse.

Again with what was mentioned on Day 29.  My everything is being tested since the men decided to take on the fire place.  Here is the before and the present. Notice again..silver haired on the ladder.

THOUGHTS from the female mind.  Instead of letting bricks just FLY shouldn't they be collected and hauled out as you go???  JUST SAYING!! Good side.  We hope to build an outdoor kitchen with the bricks.  BONUS!!!!

SHOUT out to my BIG GUY Colby.  We took on one the bedrooms and we totally won!  I have discovered I have an enemy.  I don't even know what you call this stuff...trim, metal trim, SATAN'S trim??  This stuff might drive me to drink wine.

Ended our weekend with a yummy dinner brought over by old friends/now neighbors.  We enjoyed a wonderfully cool breeze on the patio.  Climbing into bed at the end of a productive weekend feeling every muscle in my body.

With that said...this is a wrap.... TJ *** TJ *** TJ.... "Is he dead MOM??"  He is one tired pup!

DAY 29

Saturday was a reminder that there are just some fundamental differences between most MEN and WOMEN.  I am in no means MALE bashing because I love my guy!  BUT my word we look at things differently.  I am most content to start my demo in one room and stay in that room until completed and clean.  MR Glenn likes to roam all over the house creating piles and assuring me he will take care of it...and I know he will.  Mom and I spent the day again in what will be the dining room and the guys finished up in the restrooms. Big messes were made and mostly cleaned up.  Hard to imagine the BIG GREEN dumpster was getting full!!!

To prove my point.  End of Saturday...the girls room VS the MESS!

All I have to say is:

DAY 22 & 23 COMPLETE!!!

This weekend marked days 22 & 23 in the country!  We tore up some stuff, tried something new in the multi purpose waffle iron and entertained a few extra kiddos.

These guys got a ton done this weekend.  Demo is coming along nicely. Yesterday they gutted the two bathrooms...guess what was holding up the tile on the walls?  CEMENT of course. They might have tore down our storm shelter. So if you see Shawn or Jimmy walking a little slow today... :)  Hoping to draw out the plans for the kitchen this evening.  Having a fragmented kitchen has proven to be more of a chore than I imagined.

THIS guy really loves to tear things up!  This is the hallway!

Took out a closet to make a larger entry way!  YES...Jimmy has sheet rock in his mouth.  We are not responsible for future doc visits!

OH the WAFFLE Iron... Frozen Tots one moment and then SMASH Browns!!!
Colby has asked for more...so I call it a success.

Relaxation seems to be a treat of the past but the hard work is well worth it! Forward thinking is very much part of the plan.  Seeing that Erin and I WILL BE Farmers I made a very important purchase this weekend.  2016 does not appear to be a very WET one. :(
I am also curious what the hole through the top of the book is for?  DO YOU KNOW? Hang on a hook?  Do I need a hook to be a farmer?  So much to learn.

MUCH LOVE from the acres!

Tuesday, September 8, 2015

Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and HOT Holiday weekend.  We accomplished a lot at Glenn Acres! I am learning that a greater challenge than country living it chaos living. Have I mentioned I DO NOT do chaos very well??  So before we could work in the house there needed to be some sort of order in the work area...right?  That makes total sense in my mind.

Step 1: Organize the carport.  My man needs a shed...SOON!  Thankful my family puts up with my methods of organizing...even when it is outside.  Need bits, sports, camping, decorative and furniture.

Then we got to the real work!  I have taken tons of before pictures and cannot wait to be able to share before and after with you.  MONDAY was filled with crow bars, hammers and DUST/SWEAT. I could get used to swinging a hammer.  NOTE TO SELF...don't throw the crow bar when your mother is standing behind you...SORRY MOM! Who knew tearing down a door facing would be so exciting?

And of course there was food...all weekend!  TOO MUCH food.  Kids want cinnamon rolls and MOM has no oven.  It's all good!  WAFFLE Iron Cinnamon Rolls were a hit.  Next to try tator tots to make hash browns. Give it a try!

A final note.  I can handle the threat of snakes, wasps, spiders and so on.... but these FREAK ME OUT!  There is no reason I should EVER see one SO CLOSE!!!
